Jury Comments: When imagining the buildings state of deterioration, as suggested in the text, one can’t help but wonder about the visionaries that saw a goal worth the journey. Reclassified from the submission category, Addition and Renovation, the jury felt that this project was more deserving of recognition as a preservation effort. The regrets of the wrecking ball can’t be undone and preservation of the built environment, through this projects example, fosters culture and community identity. The plans indicate a bit of variety from floor to floor that establish an identifiable pedestrian experience specific to each floor.
